July 20, 2022 Regular Meeting

Call to Order

President Stephanie Guerrero called the July meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Board members present were: Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood.  Absent: Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl.

Executive Session

Jessica Browning moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:01 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Closed Session Adjournment

Jessica Browning moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:36 p.m. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Resignation

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Jordan Tolly as MS Assistant Boys Basketball Coach effective immediately. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Resignation

Lori Campbell moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Nicole Christison as MS and HS Assistant Scholastic Bowl Coach effective immediately. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Resignation

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Ravin Moore as HS Secretary effective on July 25, 2022. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Resignation

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Sara Ward as an At-Will, Benefited Bus Driver effective immediately. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Principal Contract

Lori Campbell moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to enter into a successor contract with Jonathan Field as a principal for Sangamon Valley School District through the 2024-2025 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Principal Contract

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to enter into a successor contract with Kristina Sommer as a principal for the Sangamon Valley School District through the 2024-2025 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Lori Campbell moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to enter into a successor contract with Bethany Wellbaum as a principal for the Sangamon Valley School District through the 2024-2025 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Employment

Matt Wood moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to employ Jennifer Maurer as the HS Football Cheerleading Coach for the 2022-2023 school year.Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Employment

Lori Campbell moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to employ Chris Highley as a paid, HS Assistant Football Coach for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Lori Campbell moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to employ Matt Wood as a volunteer, HS Assistant Football Coach for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Employment

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to employ Nick Viele as the MS Head Boys Basketball Coach for the 2022-2023 school year. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Consent Agenda

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Board Policy

Lori Campbell moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve the 5 year review of Board Policies: 3:70, 5:70, 5:110, 5:140, 5:240, 6:70, 6:140, and 6:330. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Board Policy 2:230 was tabled for discussion at the August Board meeting.

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to approve the Draft Update of Board Policies 4:70, 5:80, 6:80, 6:290, 7:15, and 7:270.  Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to approve the Draft Update of Rewritten Policy 7:285. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Non-Certified Handbook Update

Lori Campbell moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve the Non-Certified Handbook Update as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Restraint, Timeout, Isolated Timeout Reduction Plan

Matt Wood moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to approve the Restraint, Timeout, and Isolated Timeout Reduction Plan as presented. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Closed Session Minutes

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to keep the closed session minutes from January 2022 through June 2022 closed. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Intercom

Lori Campbell moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve the bid from Thompson Electronics Co. for the installation of an intercom system at the Primary Building for the amount of $6,792.95. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Flooring America

Jessica Browning moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to approve the bid from Flooring America for carpet installation in the Intermediate Music Room for the amount of $5,664.35. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Tech Electronics

Lori Campbell moved and Stephanie Guerrero seconded the motion to approve the bid from Tech Electronics to repair the HS fire alarm system for the amount of $1,477.65. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

AHW

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to trade/purchase a new mower from AHW for an amount not to exceed $12,749. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

Sentinel

Lori Campbell moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to renew The Sentinel subscription for the 2022-2023 school year at a cost of $19.00 per subscription. Roll call vote: Ayes-.Stephanie Guerrero, Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor.  Motion carried.

The next Regular Meeting is scheduled for August 17, 2022 at 6PM.
