November 17, 2021 Regular Meeting
Call to Order
President Stephanie Guerrero called the November meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Board members present were: Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.
Administration
Also present: Superintendent Bob Meadows, Sangamon Valley Intermediate School Principal Kristina Sommer, Sangamon Valley High School Principal Jonathan Field, and Sangamon Valley Primary Principal Bethany Wellbaum.
Pledge to the Flag
Mrs. Sommer led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Visitors
President Stephanie Guerrero recognized and welcomed the visitors. Visitors present were: Lacey Wood.
Executive Session
Josh Hilbert moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:01 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Closed Session Adjournment
Josh Hilbert moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:09 p.m. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Closed Session Minutes
Jeff Stahl moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Employment
Martha Leeper moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to employ Angie Cyrulik as a long term substitute Business Teacher effective January 3, 2022 through the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Resignation
Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Brandi Kelly as Middle School Principal effective at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Consent Agenda
Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Brandi Kelly as Middle School Principal effective at the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Superintendent’s Report
Mr. Meadows discussed the opening for a 3-8 Student Services Coordinator.
Mr. Meadows updated the Board on the Teacher Evaluation Memorandum of Understanding.
Mr. Field discussed the Baseline FastBridge Assessment with the Board.
Tax Levy
Martha Leeper moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to adopt the Tax Levy for 2021 payable in 2022. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Tax Levy
Josh Hilbert moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to adopt the resolution abating the taxes levied in 2021 for the year 2022 to pay debt service on the General Obligation School Bonds (Alternate Revenue Source, Series 2019B), of Community Unit School District Number 9, located in Macon, Sangamon, and Christian Counties, Illinois. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
Teacher Evaluation
Lori Campbell moved and Matt Wood seconded the motion to enter into an agreement with the SVEA to waive the Student Growth piece of the teacher evaluation process for the 2021-2022 school year. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
IASB Resolutions
The Board voted to adopt the IASB resolutions as amended by the Resolutions Committee.
Christmas Festival
Lori Campbell moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to allow the Village of Illiopolis to use the Intermediate Cafeteria and parking lot for their annual Christmas Festival on December 11, 2021. Motion carried.
Next Regular Meeting is scheduled for December 15, 2021 at 6 p.m.
