October 20, 2021 Regular Meeting

Call to Order

President Stephanie Guerrero called the October meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.  Board members present were: Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood.

Administration

Also present: Superintendent Bob Meadows, Sangamon Valley Middle School Principal Brandi Kelly, Sangamon Valley Intermediate School Principal Kristina Sommer, and Sangamon Valley Primary Principal Bethany Wellbaum.

Pledge to the Flag

Mr. Meadows led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Visitors

President Guerrero recognized and welcomed the visitors. Visitors present were: Heather Vaughan, Brittany Feriell, John Moran, Anna Moran, Megan Keppler, Rob Steele, Amie Steele, Brianne Impson, and Rebecca Armstrong.

Executive Session

Lori Campbell moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to enter closed session at 6:11 p.m. for the reasons stated on the agenda. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Closed Session Adjournment

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to re-enter open session at 6:21 p.m. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Closed Session Minutes

Josh Hilbert moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to accept the closed session minutes as read in closed session. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Resignation

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to accept the resignation of Abby Sweringen as an At-Will Bus Monitor effective October 1, 2021. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Employment

Jeff Stahl moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to employ Jennifer Williams as an At-Will Bus Monitor, AM route only, for the 2021-2022 school year. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Employment

Matt Wood moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to employ Sue Kaufman as an At-Will Bus Monitor, PM route only, for the 2021-2022 school year. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Consent Agenda

Martha Leeper moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda as presented. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Superintendent’s Report

Mr. Meadows discussed the 2021 Tax Levy.

Mr. Meadows updated the Board on the ESSER III Grant.

Mr. Meadows discussed the School Maintenance Grant with the Board.

Board Goals

Martha Leeper moved and Jeff Stahl seconded the motion to approve the Board Goals as presented. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Tentative Tax Levy

Matt Wood moved and Jessica Browning seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution of Tentative Tax Levy for 2021 payable in 2022. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

United Glass

Lori Campbell moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion to approve the bid from United Glass for door replacement and repair at the HS for the amount of $9,188. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Josh Hilbert, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. All voted in favor. Motion carried.

Village of Illiopolis

Matt Wood moved and Lori Campbell seconded the motion to allow the Village of Illiopolis to use the middle school gym for their Community Halloween party on October 30, 2021. Roll Call vote: Ayes-Jessica Browning, Lori Campbell, Stephanie Guerrero, Martha Leeper, Jeff Stahl, and Matt Wood. Nays- Josh Hilbert. Motion carried.

Next Regular Meeting is scheduled for November 17, 2021 at 6 p.m.

Matt Wood moved and Josh Hilbert seconded the motion that the meeting be adjourned at 6:43 p.m. All voted in favor. Motion carried.
