Welcome Back to SV Intermediate!
Welcome to our new and returning Sangamon Valley Intermediate (SVI) families! I hope you found some time to relax in preparation for the new school year! I am excited to welcome new and returning students to the building on Friday, August 16th!
Many of the SVI families know me. But, for new families, let me introduce myself! I am Mrs. Sommer, the principal at SVI. I have been an educator for 25 years. I previously taught grades 2-5. I was an instructional coach, and the administrator of an alternative school prior to landing my dream job at SVI! This will be my fifth year as the administrator at SVI. In addition to reaching their highest academic potential, I desire for your child to want to come to school! I know this won’t be true everyday. However, the teachers and I work to create an environment in which students want to be at school because they don’t want to miss out on the culture we are creating together!
I have shared a few updates and “nuts and bolts” information below to start our year. If you have questions today, or throughout the year, please feel free to contact me (email: ksommer@sangamonvalley.org or call: 217.486.7521).
